Apartments in Vårberg Centrum

Behind the everyday activity of the shopping centre, eight new apartments have recently been built on the first floor. They remain almost invisible, both from inside and outside the building, and their presence seems unnoticed. In the event of a fire, however, this place could become the scene of a tragedy.

These fire safety concerns have been identified through two approaches: on-site observations, and an examination of administrative records revealing falsified documents and a confusing timeline.

The entrances and circulation areas, particularly the staircases, are in poor condition. There is a noticeable lack of care.
Doors are left open, allowing unrestricted access. Damaged ceiling panels are coming loose, exposing electrical cables. More concerning still, the passageways are cluttered with a wide range of objects: from waste to leftover building materials, as well as signs of domestic living. All these items are highly flammable and obstruct escape routes in the event of an emergency. This state of neglect is concerning: what should provide a safe way out could instead become a veritable deadly trap.
